Why The Neutralist? The term Isolationist implies a narrow Fortress America outlook and is used as an epithet. The term Neutralist does not indicate someone hiding out from the world. No one calls the Swiss isolationists. The Wilsonian world view is old, tired and wrong. Our interventions have been less and less successful and now the failure can no longer be covered up.

Is Tehran University Historically a Part of New Hampshire?

As you drive through the Granite State you see the words "Live Free or Die" on License Plates issued by the DMV. You now see them defiantly proclaimed by lads risking life and limb to do it. Maybe not the Battle of Bennington (The New Hampshiremen were at least armed) but it's something.

There are also some lassies holding signs about gender problems. Nothing as important as worrying about heteronorming at Hahvud. The Persian girls only have little stuff to worry about like being partially buried and stoned.

The Neutralist always subscribes to the doctrine of John Quincy Adams that "America is the friend of liberty everywhere but the guarantor only of our own." We do not wish to send the fleet and army to end the current theocracy. If we did it would taint the effort that the people of Iran must do for themselves.

Still, we admire the cause and wish it well. As a former resident of New Hampshire, and by the authority not invested in me, I hereby constitute the Order of General Stark and induct the lads holding the sign as charter members.

"Live free or die. Death is not the worst of evils."

Hey, i just wanted to let you know that your blog is good, and furthermore that you're obviously smart enough to realize that this obviously doesn't mean that I necessarily agree with your theology ;-) And furthermore that it really wasn't fair to use the word theology in that context but that I just can't help myself.

Where were we? Yah, keep it up. I like you.

P.S. I just realized that if you were to combine the original genius of the various great thinkers-writers (=bloggers) that are currently available to be read online and for free you would have higher quality ideas by an order of magnitude of all that had existed in print up until the onset of the Internet Age. It's true of course that we all stand on the shoulders of those who precede us but...

Damn, I think of Ben Hecht, who died when the internet was still an imaginary Memex, and I just can't complete the above sentence. An order of magnitude? mmmmmMMMMM... it's hard to say. Let's settle for equal.

The intellectual contributions that all of us bloggers alive today could make were our scattered writings to be distilled into organized forms would EQUAL the output of all prior generations.

It feels so wrong to say that. And it may indeed be inaccurate. But I have a counter-intuitive rational sense that it's actually true.

P.P.S. ever watch a man painfully tie himself into knots in someone else's living room before? :-)

My good man,

Thank you for your kind words. Actually, I have been reading your blog and have even commented and I feel cheated that you have done nothing there since Dec. 25. Get cracking, lad.

"The intellectual contributions that all of us bloggers alive today could make were our scattered writings to be distilled into organized forms would EQUAL the output of all prior generations."

You may be right, but it is as much what one leaves out of the distillation as what one puts in. If you've ever had bad whiskey, well you understand.

"P.P.S. ever watch a man painfully tie himself into knots in someone else's living room before? :-)"

I could see it in my own room if I had a TV and watched the presidential debates (so called)

I am going to link to you on my other blog as The Neutralist is for my monomania and the voice of humility is for my far less coherent side. (Maybe I could get group rates for claiming that I have multiple personalities?)
